Therapy for Depression on Long Island
WHEN YOUR EMOTIONS FEEL DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND,
YOU DON'T HAVE TO NAVIGATE THEM ALONE.

Understanding Depression & Mood Disorders
Mood disorders can take many forms, including major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder, and bipolar disorders.
Depression doesn't always look like sadness. For adolescents, it may present as irritability, social withdrawal, declining academic performance, or a loss of interest in previously enjoyable activities. Adults may experience persistent self-criticism, exhaustion, difficulties in relationships, or a sense of disconnection from their lives.
Bipolar disorders involve distinct episodes of depression and mania or hypomania. These changes in mood, energy, sleep, and activity can significantly affect daily functioning and relationships.
An Integrative Approach to Treatment
Our approach goes beyond managing symptoms. We work collaboratively with patients to explore underlying emotional patterns, interpersonal experiences, and the ways they have learned to understand themselves.
Depending on your needs, therapy may focus on:
-
Identifying emotional triggers and recurring patterns of negative thinking.
-
Developing strategies for emotional regulation and managing depressive symptoms.
-
Exploring relationship dynamics, self-esteem, and unresolved emotional experiences.
-
Building healthier routines and strengthening sources of connection and support.
-
Recognizing early warning signs of mood episodes and developing strategies to maintain stability.

UNDERSTANDING WHERE YOUR PATTERNS COME FROM AND HELPING YOU DEVELOP NEW WAYS OF RESPONDING.
