Therapy for Adjustment and Life Transitions
EVEN POSITIVE CHANGES CAN BRING UNEXPECTED EMOTIONAL CHALLENGES

Understanding Adjustment Disorders
An adjustment disorder involves emotional or behavioral symptoms that develop in response to an identifiable stressor or life change and cause significant distress or difficulty functioning.
For adolescents and young adults, significant transitions may include changing schools, leaving home for college, shifting friendships, academic pressure, or navigating increasing independence.
Adults may experience similar difficulties related to career changes, parenthood, relationship transitions, relocation, or changes in family responsibilities.
How Therapy Can Help
Our approach focuses on understanding both the immediate stressor and the deeper emotional experiences that may influence your response to change.
Together, we may work to:
-
Identify and process the emotions associated with your current circumstances.
-
Explore fears, expectations, and beliefs that make transitions particularly difficult.
-
Develop healthier coping strategies for stress and uncertainty.
-
Strengthen communication and interpersonal boundaries.
-
Build confidence in your ability to navigate new roles and responsibilities.
-
Reconnect with your personal values, goals, and sense of identity.
